Object Details
- Description
- Cover intended to be carried by the LZ127 Graf Zeppelin on its return flight from Spain to Germany in April 1930. The cover was, however, carried by plane via Paris to Germany. It is franked with Spanish stamps--one 10 centimos and three 50 centimos airmail stamps--as well as two 1 peseta regular stamps. The stamps are tied with a Seville, Spain, postmark dated April 15, 1930. A cachet reading "La expedicion por il dirigible 'Graf Zeppelin' no se ha verificado. Administration de correos Sevilla." has been applied in black. The cover is addressed to Berlin and a red rectangular postal cachet "Mit Luftpost befördert/Luftpostamt Berlin C2" (Via airmail/airmail office Berlin C2) has also been applied. The reverse of the cover bears a Paris transit postmark dated April 18, 1930, as well as a Berlin arrival postmark dated April 19, 1930.
