- The 15-cent Robert F. Kennedy commemorative stamp was first available on January 12, 1979, in the District of Columbia.
- Robert F. Kennedy (1925-1968) was the younger brother of John F. Kennedy, 35th president of the United Sates (1960-1963). He attended Harvard University (1948) and the University of Virginia Law School (1951), and he served as attorney general during the Kennedy presidency. When Lyndon B. Johnson, John Kennedy's vice president and successor, decided not to run for re-election in 1968, Robert Kennedy began his campaign for the presidency. He was assassinated at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on June 6, 1968, by an Arab immigrant, Sirhan Sirhan.
