Object Details
- Description
- The 5-cent Milk Wagon coil stamp was issued on September 25, 1987 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The stamp, designed by Lou Nolan, was for use in multiples or in combination with other issues to make up a variety of rates.
- The Postal Service decided to shift printing of 5-cent coil stamps from the Cottrell or A Press to the B Press at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. It selected a new design, the Milk Wagon, in lieu of reengraving the Railroad Handcar design to accommodate the B Press.
- The stamp was engraved through the intaglio process by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
