- Description
- The booklet is entitled “NAVY / VOTING / MANUAL / 1945 EDITION. The cover is printed with the guide's title, the seal of the Navy Department of the United States of America, and further textual information, including text, “OFFICIAL ELECTION / WAR BALLOT INFORMATION," set between two horizontal bars of red, which were used by the US military and War Ballot Commission to designate official election war ballot material such as ballot request postcards and ballot return envelopes. Printed at the bottom of the cover is: “NAVEXOS P-90 (REPLACING NAVEXOS P-551).” The booklet contains a page of contents plus 29 numbered pages. The guide is for state elections only.
- This government publication is from the collection of William Callahan, a career US postal inspector, who served with the US Navy during World War II and applied his knowledge of postal logistics to his assignment of coordinating voting procedures for the US Navy personnel during the wartime elections.
