A Cold Day When I Took the Exam
Why I Joined
I needed the job then. I had just gotten off active duty in 1959. It wasn’t until later that year that I took the exam. It was actually December 1960, that was another bitterly cold day. It was 7 below zero and I walked down and took the exam, it was in the main Post Office in Columbus. I didn’t hear back from them for ten months and then they said I had the job. That was late October of 1961.
